What is Bridge and role of bridge in Computer Networking
Bridge
Bridges operates in both physical and data link layers of the OSI (Open System Interconnections) Model. Bridge can divide a large Network into smaller segment. A Bridge operates at the data link layer giving it access to the physical address of the all stations connected to it. When a frame enters a bridge, the bridge not only regenerate the signals but also check the address of the destination and forward the new copy only to the segment which the address is belong.
In short bridge is also a method of communication between computers using NIC (Network Interface Card) it's a different LAN segment but access method is similar to normal method.
OSI (Open System Interface)
The open System Interface model is a conceptual model that characterizes and standardized the communication function of a telecommunication or computing system without regard to its underlying internal structure and technology. The model partition a communication system into abstraction layers Layer 1 is lowest layer in this diagram 01.
NIC (Network Interface Card) / (Network Interface Controller)
Network Interface Card and Network Interface Controller both are same useful components in computer network.
